ABOUT THE FORUM

The PAIH Business Forum 2019 is a unique opportunity to meet fellow businesspeople and many business support institutions.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) continuously have to tackle import and export challenges on both foreign and domestic markets. These often complex challenges, require the support of stable and trusted partners, such as the Polish Investment and Trade Agency – PAIH, the Polish Development Fund, Special Economic Zones, and the Voivodeships Marshal’s Offices and many others. The PAIH Business Forum is the best opportunity to meet representatives of all these institutions in order to establish contacts for future cooperation.

Currently less than 20% of Polish companies operate on a European scale, and less than 14% - on a global one. In turn, as many as half of those who do business on the Old Continent are thinking about moving on to join the circle of global players. EXPORT AND INVESTMENT abroad – that is a real challenge especially for micro-, small and medium-sized companies. The PAIH Business Forum 2019 on the 9th October is an opportunity to establish contacts for future cooperation with reliable and trusted PARTNERS who will make it easier to take on such a challenge.

PAIH EXPERTS

A manager with over twenty years of professional experience, most of the time associated with the financial services sector. During his professional career he served, among others, as sales and marketing director at Powszechne Towarzystwo Emerytalne Winterthur, director of indirect sales development at Amplico AIG Life, director of indirect sales at LUX MED Ubezpieczenia, director of international co-operation at Gras Savoye Polska, sales director at SFM Group Polska (Investment Funds), director of business development at Aon Polska. He cooperated with the Bank Zweiplus Zurich (Switzerland). He was a Train The Trainer coach at Point Szkolenia and cooperated with ‘Nowe Motywacje’ – a coaching company. He conducted independent consulting activities. He graduated from the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw and post-graduate insurance studies of the Paris School of Insurance and the Polish Chamber of Insurance in Warsaw.

She has extensive experience in the private sector, including in managerial positions, as well as in running her own business. She was managing the Client Contact Department of one of the largest law firm in Poland. For part of her professional career, she was associated with development and forwarding companies, performing managerial functions, she achieved successes in the field of administration, human resources management, and quality control in HACCP and ISO systems. She has experience in accounting with a diploma of an independent accountant. For several years she has been associated with the Greek market, where she supports the development of commercial co-operation with Polish companies. She completed an internship at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań as part of the scholarship programme of the Republic of Poland for young scientists and a course of professional analysis, forecasting and communication at the Polish Institute of International Relations, she also got an internship at the European Parliament in Brussels. She worked as the director of the administrative department at Azbentonit LLC in Azerbaijan, assistant to the scholarship programme manager at the Study of Eastern Europe at the University of Warsaw, advisor and translator at Miracle Plus, coordinator of education, science and culture (conferences, exhibitions, delegation visits) at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Warsaw.

He started his professional career as a currency dealer at Bank Millennium, then he worked in the treasury department at Citi Handlowy in Warsaw, where he dealt with co-operation with large enterprises in the area of securing currency exposure. She spent the following years in Colombia, working for Colombian companies in the IT, start-up, and cosmetics sectors. He received master’s degree in law at the Faculty of Law of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. He was awarded the MBA diploma at the Nottingham Trent University in Great Britain and at the Poznań University of Economics and Business. He gained managerial experience e.g. as the chairman of the supervisory board of the municipal group of companies Holdikom, president of the management board of a French commercial company and when running his own consulting office. An R&D specialist, he amongst others carried out research projects and courses for the US Army and NATO. For 19 years he was associated with the ArcelorMittal concern as an R&D engineer and manager in Luxembourg, France, and Poland. He has been working in Morocco since 2013, where he co-founded and then managed the materials research laboratory as part of inter-university cooperation with the Polish Academy of Sciences. He speaks French and English. A big fan of travelling.

He is professionally associated primarily with the consulting and auditing industry (including EY) and the commercial real estate industry. His client portfolio includes PGE, Hugo Boss, Osram, Clear Channel, FedEx, Hitachi, Hexagon, Whirlpool, McCormick, OKI, and many others. In the past, he was co-organizing business seminars and conferences bringing together Poles from around the world. In 2010, he obtained a bachelor's degree, continuing his education at the Faculty of Oriental Studies in the field of Iranian studies. In 2012, he completed his master's degree and defended his thesis in 2014. A scholar of the Imam Khomeini International University in Qazvin (Iran). He also took part in the M.A research exchange at the Petrochemical University of Abadan, Iran. He has lived and worked in the Middle East since 2012, where he worked for the Emirates Group, Safi Airways and flydubai, living in Dubai, Afghanistan (Kabul), and Pakistan. Marta Smolarek

During his studies, he carried out the programme of the Polish-German Academic Forum. He has been present at the Polish Investment and Trade Agency for 2.5 years, where he initially dealt with foreign investors in the implementation of investment projects mainly in the field of business services (BSS). Piotr Harasimowicz

Her previous experience includes working in politics, Slate Magazine, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the New York University. She spent several years in Warsaw, where she worked on innovative projects for AmCham and NCBR. While implementing these projects, she noticed that very few women work in the IT industry. She wanted to change it, so she and her friend founded the first foundation in Poland whose goal was to teach coding to girls aged 8-12. Their partners were the American embassy, Cisco, and the Capital City of Warsaw. After returning to the USA, she continued to work on introducing balance and diversity in the technological environment in New York and Austin, TX. In her free time, she is still involved with that: she is a member of Girls in Tech and is a board member of a foundation promoting entrepreneurship for children. In addition, she is a mentor for start-ups at the Capital Factory in Austin and in Station Houston.

He worked at the Commercial Department of the Danish Embassy in Warsaw, as well as for the Dutch consumer electronics manufacturer – Philips. Graduate of a prestigious Commercial Future Leaders management programme at one of the largest pharmaceutical companies – GSK, where he managed the portfolio of paediatric vaccines and anti-retroviral drugs for four years, achieving very good business results. Specialist within the field of marketing and sales of medicinal products – winner of, among others, GSK Europe & Canada Winning Performance Award for preparing strategies and operational activities for a multi-channel educational campaign on vaccination prevention.

For 4 years, she was also the founder and director of the Filigri Consulting company operating in Nigeria in the area of consulting and training on sales strategies for Nigerian blue chip companies. Wojciech Łopatkiewicz

Graduate of the University of Westminster in London in the field of international co-operation and communication. For many years, he has been professionally associated with British chambers of commerce, where he dealt with promotion of economic relations and trade exchange between Great Britain and Arab countries. In 2015, he was delegated to Southeast Asia, where he participated in the implementation of the strategy of the British Ministry of International Trade, aimed at building a network of foreign sales offices in the region. A manager with many years of experience, he was a member of the board of the British-Malaysian Chamber of Commerce alongside the presidents of regional giants, i.e. HSBC, Standard Chartered, BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, and Petrofac. For a year, he has been using his experience running the PAIH Foreign Trade Office in Manila. He speaks English and Arabic.

Rafał Owczarek

Graduate of law at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and of the National School of Public Administration in Warsaw. Public affairs manager, lawyer, and diplomat with 16 years of professional experience in the public and private sectors, including in a global group, law firms, in the energy sector, international and EU organizations, and in diplomacy. She represented the Polish government in the EU Council working groups while working on strategic documents regarding security of gas supply, at Polish diplomatic missions in Vienna and Rome, and in the international organization Energy Community in Vienna. She conducted key projects from the point of view of Polish energy security at the Ministry of Economy in the Oil and Gas Department and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Department of Economic Policy. She underwent a number of trainings at the College of Europe in Bruges, the Academy of European Law (ERA) in Brussels, the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Luxembourg and Maastricht, Florence School of Regulation in Florence, and the Diplomatic Academy in Warsaw. She is responsible for the PAIH Foreign Trade Office in Milan. She is fluent in English and Italian, as well as German and French.

Patrycja Niemczyk - Favaró

Graduate of Russian studies at the University of Warsaw. He completed post-graduate studies in the field of management at the University of Ecology and Management in Warsaw. From 2005 until 2018 he was associated with the Institute of Eastern Studies Foundation, the organizer of the Economic Forum in Krynica, where he was responsible for the development of co-operation with the countries of Central Asia, the Southern Caucasus and Eastern European countries. He co-organized over 60 international economic conferences attended by representatives of politics, business and media from the CIS countries. He is engaged in projects supporting the expansion of Polish business to CIS markets. In 2011–2016, he worked as a consultant for the development of co-operation with the CIS countries at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów.

She has been living in Mexico since 2005 and has been involved in the development of commercial co-operation and the promotion of foreign direct investment, as well as supporting international trade between Mexico and Europe. She is characterised by excellent knowledge of the European and Mexican business culture and has twelve years of professional experience on the Mexican market. She has worked in the public and private sectors, focusing mainly on strengthening trade activities between Poland and Mexico, Latin America and other European countries; organizing and coordinating events in the field of economic promotion and economic missions, organizing workshops, panels and B2B meetings for European, Mexican, and state institutions. In 2008, she was working as a Project Manager for the Business Finland Commercial Office in Mexico City, coordinated promotional activities and supported business opportunities between Mexican and Finnish companies. In 2009, while cooperating with the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce Innovation Norway, she coordinated the official visit of Prince Haakon and Princess Mette Marit from Norway and the Norwegian economic mission of 80 companies from the oil and gas sector. From May 2009 to 2012, she worked as the Deputy Director for National Promotion and since 2010, as the Deputy Director for Promotion of International Europe and Asia at the Mexican Investment and Trade Promotion Agency (ProMexico). In December 2010, she was a member of the Committee for COP 16 Coordination – United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Cancun, Mexico. As part of this project, she was responsible for the organization and coordination of 50 expert panels related to renewable energy sources. Since January 2016, she has worked at the Polish Embassy in Mexico as an Analyst for Economic matters and supported the development of trade co-operation between Poland and Mexico. During his professional career he served among others as a board member and quality director at Vanek Engineering. He participated in international projects in Brazil and South Korea. In 2012, he started co-operating with the Austrian company Connex Group, which he introduced to Poland. Within just five years, he built a stable company that with its solutions in 2017 ensured the Polish leasing leader the prestigious ‘Financial Order’ award. Graduate of the Technical University of Ostrava in Czechia. He speaks Polish, Czech, Slovak, and English.

She has over eight years of experience in project management, building international partnerships and business support from the project incubation phase through product development and company foreign expansion. During that period, she and her team organized over 100 events for entrepreneurs, including industry conferences, economic missions and study visits, mentoring and acceleration programs. She performed among others functions of the Manager in the department supporting the development and expansion of start-ups in the Gdańsk Business Incubator STARTER, where she was also responsible for building strategic partnerships and represented the company at numerous foreign conferences. She chaired the Supervisory Boards of four portfolio companies of the incubator and acted on its behalf in the European Business Angels Network (EBAN) as well as was responsible for investor relations.

He worked as an advisor for the largest bank in Canada. He was a volunteer of many non-profit organizations, including ‘YPCPA’ – Young Polish Canadian Professionals Association. His professional career allowed him to develop a passion for his homeland and to establish extensive Polish-Canadian business relations.

He has 9 years of professional experience in business and managing investments in Mongolia. He graduated from the University of Finance and Economics in Ulaanbaatar in the field of accounting. He is also a graduate of the CFA training program at the Becker Professional Education Institute in Geneva. He started his professional career as a financial analyst at Frontier Securities (Japan), the first foreign investment bank in Mongolia. Then he continued working as an analyst at the Mongolia Opportunities Fund, the first private equity fund in Mongolia, which raised $ 50 million from investors such as IFC, EBRD, DEG, FMO and Mitsubishi Corporation. He was later the president of the company which dealt with international trade, also with Poland. Prior to joining PAIH, Bat-Erdene was the managing director of Horizon Partners, which deals with investment consultancy and raising capital for the SME sector.

He got his master's degree at the Faculty of Management at the University of Gdańsk in the field of finance and banking. He started his professional career in Bank Pekao SA, where he dealt with credit services for institutional clients. Then, he conducted independent consulting and investment activities. In the years 2006–2014, he was a political adviser in the European Parliament responsible, among others, for the Committee on Regional Development and in the period 2007–2009, he was the head of the cabinet of the Vice-President of the European Parliament, where he was responsible for the dossier on the EU internal market. For a year, he has been managing the OFT of the Polish Agency of Investment and Trade in Washington.

She also has ten years of experience as an accredited export adviser at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, she provided advice to Polish enterprises on export sales and internationalization. Co-founder and long-term president of the PAIWG organization in Vienna, which brings together Polish and Austrian companies from various sectors, actively working for trade between Poland and Austria. She organized speeches of Polish companies at industry fairs in Austria. A graduate of business administration and human resource management at the University of Law and Public Administration in Rzeszów and post-graduate business coaching studies at the Cracow University of Economics.
